Lingfield Tips: Commandingpresence

Has the second best draw in the race but more importantly the early pace to use it.

The usual draw bias has been reasserting itself on Lingfield’s turf course, with high numbers dominating. That explains the early market move for Welease Bwian in stall 11/11; however I’m not convinced he is a good bet at short odds.

On his inside in stall 10, Commandingpresence looks better value. For starters, he has much brighter early pace, which means he could steal the rail from Welease Bwian in the first 100 yards.

If he doesn’t grab the rail and/or early lead, he also has the stamina to come from behind to win a race. Two starts ago he won over 6f at Lingfield; therefore if the leaders go too quickly he has the speed endurance to pick them off at the finish of this 5f contest.

At 9/1 (William Hill) I’m happy to back the horse with the second best draw at a much bigger price than the favourite.
