Lingfield Tips: Captainrisk

Has been steadily improving with each run, showing a good turn of foot last time out.

With Microlight and Waterloo Dock in the field the 2.00 at Lingfield should be run at a decent gallop. The race should setup for a horse coming from off the pace and that is where we need to focus.

Captainrisk is having his third run after a break and should be at his peak for this contest. His speed ratings have been steadily improving suggesting he is about to turn in a top performance.

Last time out he made good progress from off the pace to finish a close fourth at Lingfield. He matched Nubar Boy for a turn off foot, which is as good as it gets at this level.

The handicapper must have been feeling generous as he actually dropped Captainrisk 1lbs for that performance. The decrease in weight is unlikely to make much of a difference but is an unexpected bonus.

Christine Dunnett has commented that her six-year-old has struggled with injuries. It is therefore no surprise to see him racing on the polytrack - a surface that is gentler on fragile feet and legs. Lingfield could bring out the best in this horse and at 8/1 (Blue Square) he is underrated in the betting.

This contest looks extremely closely matched so make sure you benefit from Blue Square’s money back concession.
