Lingfield Races Tip: Admirable Duchess

She has bagged the plum draw and has the pace to capitalise.

The 2.40 is Lingfield’s first sprint of the season on turf and if the track exhibits the same properties as last year we are in for a profitable run. The five and six furlong course at Lingfield has one of the biggest draw biases in the country. You need to be drawn tight against the stands rail; otherwise you might as well forget it.

Over the past three years the highest numbered stall has a 53% strike rate, winning over four times more often than it should. Whenever there is a sprint at Lingfield the highest drawn runner is the first port of call.

Drawn in stall 10 of 10 is Admirable Duchess and she ticks all the right boxes. A quick starter, she should be able to hold her position on the favoured rail and make most of the running. She has twice been runner up at Goodwood, a similarly speedy downhill track, so she should handle Lingfield. Her times last year were quick enough to win in this grade and she went close on her seasonal debut too.

There are plenty of positives in her favour, enough to make her a good bet in the race.
