Strong pace and 7f are his optimal conditions. Had excuses for recent poor performances.
Haywain needs 7f and a strong pace; with both likely in the 3.15 Lingfield he should run a big race.
His last two defeats on the all-weather have been excusable; he finished lame at Wolverhampton and failed to settle behind a steady gallop at Kempton.
Previously he had finished a short-head second to Bussa at Wolverhampton but 4.5 lengths ahead of the third place horse. A repeat of that run should see him shed his maiden tag.
