Leicester Racing Tip: Hot Pursuits

The 2.15 at Leicester is a competitive sprint handicap with fifteen runners but nothing outstanding in the field. The reality is most of these horses look exposed and none of them are particularly well treated. Apart from one – Hot Pursuits.

As a four-year-old filly, she has not seen a lot of racing. That might be a concern after a 238-day break, with fitness perhaps an issue. However, the performances she put in last season were eye catching. A winner on her last start at Bath, she finished a length in front of Secret Witness and a further eight lengths ahead of the rest. That can rate as a decent performance as the runner up finished the season rated 100.

Racing off a mark of 78, Hot Pursuits looks incredibly well treated. She travels well in her races so should be suited by the mad gallop of a big field. The uphill finish at Bath is also similar to the one at Leicester and she is in the hands of an excellent trainer.

On balance she has considerably more going for her than any other of the horses in the race.
