Lay of the Day: Swendab

Overnight rain falling on watered ground could scupper the chances of Swendab in the 6.40 Chepstow.

After romping home by six lengths only a couple of days ago Swendab looked a sure thing in the 6.40 Chepstow but the overnight rain has dented his chances.

Swendab turf record by going

Good to firm or firm: 5/13
Good or softer: 0/13

The official going description at Chepstow is ‘good to firm’ but rain falling on watered ground can loosen the top of the surface and that won’t suit Swendab who needs it like a road.

To further complicate matters Swendab has to carry 10st and faces competition for the lead. This won’t suit the 5-year-old who is happier dominating small fields, his last two wins coming in four and five runner fields.
