Chepstow Tips: Sinfonietta

Chepstow Tips: Sinfonietta

Set overly strong pace at Salisbury but still earned a good rating in finishing second. Fellow pace-setters improved next time out.

Sinfonietta was withdrawn from a big 7f handicap at Goodwood on Saturday possibly the fast ground and/or the poor draw was the problem but thankfully he doesn’t have long to wait for his next chance.

The 3.10 Chepstow is nowhere near as valuable but it’s attracted a small, softer field. Stall 9 isn’t a problem and any ease in the ground is a bonus.

The 4-year-old has barely run a bad race for David Menuisier and was slightly unlucky to bump into an unexposed 3-year-old at Salisbury last time.

Shane Kelly set an overly strong pace given the soft conditions and his 95.8% finishing speed was much slower than par. It is clear his mount did too much in front but he fared better than fellow pacesetters Dance Of Fire and Hail Clodius who finished 1.75 lengths and 6 lengths further back.

It is interesting to that both horses improved next time out, by 5lbs and 15lbs per Racing Post Ratings. I gave Sinfonietta an adjusted speed rating of 91 for his run at Salisbury and the collateral form seems to suggest he ran better than the bare result.
