Chepstow Tips: Gilmer
Is 3/3 at Chepstow and better suited by 6f. Clocked a rapid closing sectional last time and still ahead of his mark.
Gilmer has been a revelation since dropping to sprint trips and his record over 5f/6f this season is 11141. He has shot up the handicap as a result but a mark of 72 is not insurmountable.
The main thing in his favour is the track. The undulations of Chepstow lends itself to course specialists and Gilmer is 3/3 at the Welsh venue.
Last time out he won by a length but is better than the margin of victory. He was held-up in rear and struggled to go the early pace but it made no difference as he swooped past Swendab to win going away.
Gilmer clocked the fastest closing sectional by 0.7s and earned an adjusted speed rating of 82. That puts him well ahead of his current mark and his winning run doesn’t look like stopping yet, especially back over 6f.
