Jonnie Skull Can Win For 22nd Time

Jonnie Skull Can Win For 22nd Time

The favourite is a deep closer and in stall one Jonnie Skull could steal the race from the front.

Jonnie Skull is one of the toughest horses in training, the 5.35 Chelmsford is his 190th competitive start and there is a chance he records his 22nd victory.

It is a cliché but Jonnie Skull is a horse who wins in his turn and having dropped into a 0-52 handicap life is slightly easier.

So far this winter he’s been largely out of form but there were signs of life on his last start. A change to hold-up tactics didn’t suit but he wasn’t beaten far and he recorded a reasonable sectional adjusted speed rating of 46.

This afternoon he is drawn in stall 1, perfect for a return to the front-running tactics that have served him so well. The visor is back on and Luke Morris is a good booking with a 4-15 strike rate on the horse.

Camdora is the obvious danger but he races from off the pace and that could allow Jonnie Skull to exploit a soft lead at 14/1 (BetVictor).
