Goodwood Tips: Angels Will Fall

Drawn near the likely pacesetter and the potential improver in a race full of exposed sprinters.

There is no outstanding sprinter in the 3.45 Goodwood despite it being a Group 2 contest. On my speed ratings, there is very little to split the horses and most are exposed. The one horse who has some improvement to come is Angels Will Fall.

Having only her third start of the season and her eighth overall, there could be a couple of lengths left in her and that could make the difference.

On her last start she gave away a couple of lengths when slowly into stride but she had enough quality to reel in the field and win. Jockey Robert Winston said he was keen to get the horse settled as she is such a strong traveller; the abundance of early pace in today’s race should suit her perfectly.

On the face of it, a wide draw in stall 1 could be a negative but she is drawn next to the speedball Tangerine Trees in stall 3. No one in the field has more early pace and just like the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot, he could set up the race for the horses around him.  At 12/1 (Ladbrokes) Angels Will Fall is the value.
