Epsom Derby Ante Post: Seville

Favourite for the Dante yet 8/1 for the Derby. The disparity suggests he is over priced for the Epsom classic.

With the Dante on Thursday having repercussions for the Derby market, the best ante post value is had before the race at York.

Of the main contenders, World Domination and Carlton House must be taken on. Both won their maidens in impressive fashion but the horses they beat might not amount to much. Either could win the Dante in taking style and make this writer look a bit silly but until they do, they are opposable.

In terms of price Seville should be shorter than both horses mentioned above. A second place in the Racing Post trophy is top form and remember it was over an inadequate trip for a horse bred to get twelve furlongs.

He has followed the same path as previous stable stars Hawk Wing, High Chaparral and Dylan Thomas, who all won at Tipperary. If he continues in the same vein then Aiden O’Brien has another star on his hands. Take the 8/1 now as he could be half the price if he wins the Dante.
