Classy All Weather Lingfield Sprint

First time blinkers should bring about the improvement to win this from a stable flying in Jan.

On the face of it a trappy sprint with bookmakers going 9/2 the field with only eight runners. The easiest way to get to today’s selection Sioux Rising in the 15.40 Lingfield is to eliminate those with little chance relative to their odds:

The Scorching Wind
Used to running over further, he showed little on his return over a mile to suggest a drop in trip is what he needs.

Green Manalishi
10yo whose form is regressive.

Breathless Kiss
A five furlong sprint fell into her lap when the leaders went too fast but up in trip last time she laboured without making much headway beaten 3.5 lengths.

Vintage
Held by Anne Of Kiev.

Perfect Act & Anne Of Kiev
Taking turns beating each other but starting to look exposed and a step up into Class 3 racing is outside their normal sphere, a win today would be a life time best.

Five Star Junior
Used to running in this class but hasn’t won over 6f for almost two years. His fast finishing style lends itself to a fast pace which he probably won’t get today, but the best of the rest nonetheless.

SELECTION: Sioux Rising
The least exposed in the race and comes from the Richard Fahey stable who are flying with 9 winners and a 26% strike rate this month. You can forgive her last run at Southwell as many horses fail to handle the surface but before that she was beaten only 1 3/4 lengths by Secret Asset who is a top sprint handicapper. That day she pulled 3 lengths clear of the third horse Vhujon (a subsequent winner) and although she can race a bit lazily first time blinkers should keep her interested today.
