Chelmsford Tips: Starboard

It’s been a long time between drinks for Starboard, his last win came in August 2015 but as a result he’s fallen to a mark where he should be competitive again.

The 8-year-old races off 75 in the 5.50 Chelmsford and for the first time in his career is eligible for a class 5 handicap.

Normally horses with a regressive profile should be avoided but Starboard has put in plenty of good performances of late. Two starts back he finished a close fourth over course and distance and was slightly unlucky because he was badly hampered inside the final furlong. He might not have won but would have gone close.

David Simcock is enjoying a productive winter and has a 22% strike rate in apprentice races. It therefore looks like the perfect opportunity for Starboard to score.
