Chelmsford Tips: Rupert Boy

Chelmsford Tips: Rupert Boy

Badly hampered at the start of his last race but came home almost a second quicker than anything else.

My final selection of the day is a speculative wager on Rupert Boy in the 4.20 Chelmsford. I say speculative because he’s not shown a huge amount of ability but this is a bad race.

Having beaten a grand total of zero horses on his first four starts, he finally showed something when fourth, beaten 3.5 lengths at Chelmsford last time out.

If anything he was slightly unfortunate because he was almost wiped out as the gates open, as Leitrim Traveller ducked left.

Having lost several lengths at the start, Kieran O’Neill rousted along his mount to get back into contention. It was a laboured effort but in the final 3f the penny dropped.

Rupert Boy ran the fastest closing sectional by almost a second and although the leaders had gone quick, it was a noteworthy effort.

His sectional adjusted speed rating was a paltry 35 but if he hadn’t been hampered at the start it would have been at least 10lbs better.

That still isn’t great but might win him a weak race at 14/1 (Bet365).
