Chelmsford Tips: Midnight Dance
Ran a perfectly adequate race on his reappearance after a 6-month break and has a good form line with Tychaios.
Sixteen days ago Midnight Dance finished ninth at Kempton, whilst Tychaios won later on the same card. It therefore makes sense that the winner is shorter in the 7.55 Chelmsford?
Wrong.
Over the same course and distance Midnight Dance was actually 0.4s quicker than Tychaios. The pace can’t be blamed either as both horses ran exactly the same type of race with finishing speeds of around 101.5%.
Break down the sectionals and Midnight Dance was quicker over the first 3f and fractionally quicker over the final 3f.
The difference in ability is accounted for in their official ratings but since their last ‘meeting’ Midnight Dance is 2lbs lower at the weights and Tychaios 3lbs higher.
They are both well draw this evening and Midnight Dance has further scope to improve as he was returning from a long layoff last time. At 11/1 (William Hill) he is the one to bet.
