Chelmsford Tips: Burcan
Ran green on debut but looked impressive once he got the hang of things. Won carrying 10st and recorded a speed rating of 80.
The 6.40 Chelmsford promises to be a battle between last time out winners Appeared and Burcan. Both hail from powerful stables and although the former has the better draw the latter has more scope.
Burcan only made his racecourse debut as a 4-year-old last month but still managed to shoulder 10st to victory. Having raced keenly during the early part of the race it looked like he was floundering in the home straight but that might have been greenness because after a couple of smacks he took off.
He clocked the fastest closing sectional of the race but most of that effort came in the final furlong and the narrow margin of victory means he’s been given a lenient handicap mark of 77.
The way he finished his race suggests he should improve for the step up to 10f this evening.
