Chelmsford Tips: Baddilini
Capable of taking advantage of his sliding handicap mark. Not beaten far nine days ago when doing too much in front.
It’s been a while since Baddilini’s last win but he’s fallen to a mark where he can be competitive and he ran a cracker over course and distance nine days ago.
Paddy Pilley was keen to make the running from stall 1 but he slightly misjudged the fractions and went too fast. Baddilini’s finished speed was 96.3% of his average race speed and he got very tired in the last 100 yards as he got swamped by those ridden with more restraint.
Under the circumstances the 6-year-old did well to finish so close (beaten half a length) and might be better suited to taking a lead.
Stall 9 might be a blessing in disguise if he manages to sit behind the leaders and this trip seems to suit him nowadays. Eleven months ago, he was only beaten a length in a class 2 handicap over course and distance and this is easier.
