Carlisle Tips: Al Khan

Seems revitalised by the move to Ollie Pears, well handicapped and has a good record on good to firm going.

Al Khan is a talented but frustrating individual. Last season he won a class 3 sprint handicap at Ascot but regressed over the winter, to the point he wasn’t even competitive in sellers and claimers.

Ollie Pears picked him up in April for £6,000 and he might have bagged himself a bargain.

Last time out at Southwell we saw the ‘old’ Al Khan re-emerge. He chased an overly strong pace but kept on well to finish second, beaten only 2 lengths in a fast time for the grade.

Back on good to firm turf, where he’s won twice from 8 starts, he should run a big race in the 2.10 Carlisle. He is 9lbs below his last winning mark and a good price at 9/1 (Betfred).
