Brighton Tips: Maria Montez

Well beaten favourite on her last start but was probably feeling the effects of a career best performance. Been giving a break since.

With just one flat meeting in the UK, betting opportunities are limited but we can find a bet in the 2.30 Brighton if we are creative.

Maria Montez flopped on her last start, finishing last when sent off the 5/2 favourite but if you can forgive that run she would be a good deal shorter than the 12/1 (BetVictor) currently quoted.

Last time out at Lingfield she was beaten by 10.5 lengths, travelling well but finding very little at the finish. This run came only a week after she won at the same track, recording a life-time best performance according to Racing Post Ratings.

Running a career best probably took a lot out of the 5-year-old and seven days didn’t give her enough time to recover.

This afternoon she returns after a 30 day break and if recapturing the form of her penultimate start she will go close.

She’s previous run well over course and distance and with eight runners going to post she is an each-way steal at 12/1 with 1/5 odds for a top-3 finish.
