Brighton Tips: Harbour Rock
Encouraging debut when closing from rear off steady pace. Winner ran in Royal Lodge and Harbour Rock not far behind.
David Simcock doesn’t send many horses to Brighton but when he does they tend to win. Over the past five seasons he has a 36% strike rate (5-14) with his juveniles at the track. It’s certainly enough to convince Oisin Murphy who travels to the seaside for just one ride before hotfooting it to Kempton.
Harbour Rock is his representative in the 3.10 and there was a lot to like about his debut last month. Held up in rear behind a steady pace (108.1% finishing speed) he showed a good turn of foot to clock the second fastest closing sectional, without being hard ridden.
Harbour Rock was unable to land a blow on the winner, Bay Of Poets but he covered the final 3f only 0.48s slower than the Godolphin horse who subsequently ran in the Royal Lodge.
The runner-up franked the form by winning at Hamilton recently and a combination of collateral form and time figures make Harbour Rock overpriced.
