Bertie Blu Boy On Song

Has been winning races despite running sub-optimal sectionals. Possibly more to come if given a more conservative ride.

Bertie Blu Boy looks for his fourth win on the bounce in the 3.30 Lingfield and he’s one to watch with his peculiar running style.

The 6-year-old has made all in his last three races but they haven’t been soft wins as the form book might suggest.

Bertie Blu Boy Sectionals

On 22 January and 14 February, Bertie Blue Boy went off too fast meaning he was slowing down in the final 2f.

Ideally his finishing speed should be approximately 100% meaning he distributes his energy evenly through the race but finishing speeds of 96.5% and 96.7% are sub-optimal.

After his win on the 22 January, jockey Kevin Lundie said he was under instructions to keep going as fast as he could.

It’s an unusual tactic but he’s been getting away with it. Given an even paced ride he should be able to win more comfortably, so perhaps his hot streak isn’t over yet.
