Bath Tip: Piazza San Pietro
Will love the fast ground and in excellent form. The best horse in the race.
Local trainer Andy Haynes holds all the aces in the 7.25 at Bath. He runs two of the favourites and Piazza San Pietro edges it for me.
The key to this horse is fast ground. He has won 10/28 times when encountering going described as good to firm or firmer. He is 0/8 when racing on softer.
Last time out at Ascot he can be forgiven a poor run, he was drawn low when the bias was favouring those drawn high. He was bumped in the middle of his race and forced to race wide on the worst of the track, he had no chance.
The run before that he was most impressive, coming from last to first to land the spoils at Haydock. He was the only horse to make up ground from off the pace, winning in a good time. Despite the small field there are enough prominent runners to set it up for him.
