Alben Star was the only horse to give Pretend a race last time out and he is worth having a saver on for the 2.10 Lingfield.
Richard Fahey admitted he had the horse undercooked early in his all-weather campaign, a long turf season meant he returned to training late. But with each run we’ve seen a dramatic improvement in form.
Last time out he couldn’t live with Pretend’s turn of pace but that was over 5f and he promises to be better over 6f.
A 21.83s sectional marks him out as a smart sprinter and if something goes wrong with Pretend, there is a chance that he can defend the title he won last year.
