All-Weather Marathon: Hurricane Higgins

All-Weather Sprint Championship: Hurricane Higgins

Won by a nose on his first start in 28-months and much better than the margin of victory.

Nicky Henderson didn’t have the greatest Cheltenham Festival but he could still enjoy a successful spring at the All-Weather equivalent.

Hurricane Higgins made a remarkable comeback at Lingfield last month, winning on his first start since October 2012.

He scrambled home by the narrowest of margins but was value for much more. The 7-year-old came home in 22.61s, comfortably the fastest sectional in the race but he wasn’t helped by racing in rear behind a steady pace (109.6% finishing speed).

A stronger gallop will suit and I expect him to improve now he has a run under his belt.
