All-Weather Marathon Championship Tip: Moonrise Landing

All-Weather Marathon Championship Tip: Moonrise Landing

Unbeaten on the all-weather (3/3) and her closing sectional was over a second faster than Anglophile managed when they last met.

I earmarked Moonrise Landing for this race back in December and it’s great to see she has turned up in one piece.

Last summer Ralph Beckett’s mare looked like she’d hit a ceiling but a step-up to two miles has been the making of her. She has won her last three starts and is unbeaten (3/3) on the all-weather.

Back in December she smashed Anglophile (who re-opposes today) by 4.5 lengths and will prove hard to beat if returning to that form.

Tracking an even pace, she blitzed the final 2f in 23.46s, over a second quicker than Anglophile managed in second. It was the second quickest closing sectional over course and distance from the last 145 runners.

Moonrise Landing stays the trip well but also has a turn of foot making her tactically versatile and difficult to beat.
