Al Khan Will Enjoy Big Field
Ran a rapid 21.8s closing sectional two starts back but needs a strong pace so the leaders come back to him.
The 3.05 Lingfield is a high quality handicap and we see a rare big field thanks to the prize on offer.
This could cause a problem for Al Khan drawn in stall 12 but he is usually held-up in rear so it should not bother him unduly. If anything the big field is a positive.
Al Khan needs to be delivered off a strong pace, something he didn’t get two starts ago over course and distance. A steady pace (105.7% finishing speed) meant the leaders never came back to him, even though he ran the fastest closing sectional of the race, a rapid 21.8s for the final two furlongs.
Last time out his running style wasn’t suited to the Fibresand and he’s been dropped 3lbs. It will take a career best for Al Khan to win this but he’s a capable horse and is given a squeak at 33/1 (Betfred).
