Houston Open Tips: Chris Kirk

Finished T2 in Houston two years ago and currently sixth on tour for adjusted scoring average.

After a T16 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, I am happy to back Chris Kirk for the second week in a row.

The 25-year-old produced a bit of a mixed bag at Bay Hill, 17 birdies were offset by 14 dropped shots but it proved that when not at his best he could still compete at the top level.

Two years ago, he finished second at the Houston Open, his score of 17-under would have been good enough to win most years but he ran into an inspired Phil Mickelson.

Ranked sixth for adjusted scoring average, he is a better player than he was in 2011 and at 45/1 (Bet365), he looks a cracking each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
