Houston Open Tips: JB Holmes
Has finished P2-T10-T22-2-MC in his last five starts and was runner-up here in 2009.
JB Holmes is enjoying a tremendous season and a win doesn’t look far off. The world number 20 has made a remarkable comeback from illness, considering a year ago he’d slipped to number 509 in the world.
The 32-year-old has gone close on a couple of occasions, finishing second at Torrey Pines and Doral. Both courses are considered lengthy even by PGA Tour standards and he faces a similar test in Houston this week.
The Golf Club of Houston measures 7,457 yards and Holmes has gone well at the venue before. His last five visits have yielded three top-15 finishes and in his current mood I expect another bold showing at 40/1 (Stan James).
