Northern Trust Open Tips: Carl Pettersson
Price far too big for a regular winner who enjoyed a stellar 2012 on tour.
Carl Pettersson enjoyed his best year as a professional in 2012, registering his fifth PGA Tour victory and four further top-5 finishes. He is now ranked 34th in the world yet the bookmakers still don’t give him the respect he deserves.
Bet365 have priced the Swede at 100/1 and that is simply too big for a proven winner. Granted, his record at the Northern Trust Open is unspectacular, a T34 last year was his best finish since a T13 back in 2007. However the course should suit; Pettersson has a good record on tricky, old-fashioned venues.
Last year he won the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town, another par-71 course with small greens and a premium on accuracy. At 100/1 (Bet365) he is a cracking each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
