Northern Trust Open Tips: Vaughn Taylor
Finished T10 last week but it wasn’t a complete shock because he has been playing well on the Web.com Tour.
Vaughn Taylor has endured some lean years on tour; his last victory came at the 2005 Reno-Tahoe Open but he is still relatively young in golfing terms and there might be brighter days ahead.
The 38-year-old has started the year strongly with finishes of T15-T12-T10 and although the first two came on the Web.com Tour they were on tricky, strategic courses not dissimilar to Riviera.
Taylor is currently third on the PGA Tour for GIRs and although that is based on only two starts at least we know his ball striking is in good shape.
The former Ryder Cup player has made the cut five times (from eight starts) at Riviera and if he can carry the momentum from his top-10 at Pebble Beach he could outrun odds of 250/1 (Coral).
