Honda Classic Tips: Jason Day

Off course distractions hampered his progress but he’s started the new season with three top-10 finishes already.

After finishing runner-up in two majors during 2011, big things were expected of Jason Day but last season didn’t exactly go to plan. After starting the year with a foot injury we rarely saw him on a golf course.

Day also puts this down to distractions away from golf, he became a father in July, but at only 25 years of age there is plenty of time for the Australian to get his career back on track.

The early signs are encouraging. So far this year, Day has registered three top-ten finishes in only four events, one fewer than he recorded in the whole of 2012.

Even during his ‘down’ year, Day still ranked 28th on tour for adjusted scoring average and 14th for stroke gained putting.

There’s never been much wrong with his game and with a renewed focus he looks a good each-way bet at 35/1 (Stan James), with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
