Honda Classic Tips: Kyle Stanley
Terrific tee-to-green and has five consecutive top-40s finishes. Should relish the tough test this week.
A second round 66 at Riviera briefly raised our pulses and although it was to prove futile in the end there was enough encouragement to keep Kyle Stanley onside again.
Ranked seventh in strokes gained tee-to-green, a function of his excellent driving (ranked first in total drives) and approach play (ranked ninth) there is plenty to like about his game. Unfortunately, putting is still an issue but he might get away with in at PGA National.
Birdies are usually difficult to come by at the Honda Classic and with the winning score usually in single digits, it’s more about avoiding costly mistakes.
Stanley has finished inside the top-40 on his last five starts and his record at PGA National is 24-MC-18-MC-43. Whilst his form is good, he remains in the staking plan at 125/1 (Skybet) with 1/4 odds for a top-6 finish.
