Ranked sixth in strokes gained tee-to-green at Riviera and is 5/5 in cuts made at the Honda Classic.
At some stage I’m going to visit a Steele rehab centre because I cant wean myself off the Californian golfer. Last week he offered a glimmer of hope when well placed going into the final round of the Northern Trust Open only to collapse on Sunday and finish T39.
There’s always some excuse with Steele, but the 33-year-old has proven he can contend on a tough track when the onus is on tee-to-green excellence rather than putting.
Steele ranked sixth in strokes gained tee-to-green at Riviera and more of the same is required at PGA National.
In five visits to the course he is yet to miss a cut with finishes of 63-75-51-33-11. If he continues on this trend he must go close to winning soon. The 80/1 (BetVictor) is too hard to resist.
