Honda Classic Tips: Greg Chalmers

T12 last year, his best finish at the event. An excellent putter and shot a second round 64 here in 2009.

It is a curious fact that four of the last five winners of the Honda Classic arrived on the back of a top-ten finish. Form can be crucial in golf, but on a tough course like the PGA National’s Champion Course perhaps it counts even more.

Greg Chalmers might be looking for his first tour win but he fits the form trend, with a T10 at the Northern Trust Open. Like Riveria CC, this week’s course plays tough despite being relatively short.

It is the sort of venue which should suit Chalmers as he isn’t the longest hitter but has an excellent short game and putts well. Last season he ranked 11th on tour for scrambling.

In 2009, he shot a blistering second round 64 on the way to a T22 and last year he recorded his highest ever placing with a T12 finish.

In good form on a course that suits his game, he is overpriced at 125/1 (Paddy Power) with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
