Honda Classic Betting: A High Scoring Day

Gusting winds of 35mph caused difficult conditions and high scoring. Only eight players finished their rounds under par.

It was a day to hang in there at the Honda Classic as gusts of up to 35mph buffeted the PGA National. The scoring average was 73.8, which is 3.8 over par, so any one scoring +3 can consider they had a better than average round. Conditions were so tough that it was the highest scoring day since the US Open at Pebble Beach last year.

One man who handled the conditions better than most was American, Spencer Levin. His three under round of 67 makes him clubhouse leader and continues the good form his showed in Mexico last week. Levin is available to back at 12/1 with bet365.

It was a mixed day for the British players. Lee Westwood is now favourite in the golf betting at 9/1 after a level par 70. Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy all had tough days at the office but didn’t let the scores get away from them and posted respectable 73s. The bookmakers were slightly disappointed and pushed out all their odds.

Two pre-tournament 40/1 shots are close behind Westwood in the betting. Charl Schwartzel continued his excellent from this year, dropping only one shot on a way to a two under 68. The South African is now 10/1 with Boylesports.

Former Honda Classic winner, YE Yang shot one of the best rounds of the late starters, also finishing at -2 and is a best price 11/1, also with Boylesports.

The Betting Bias golf tips had unspectacular rounds but are by no means out the tournament, Nathan Green shooting +3 and Jason Dufner +5.
