Formula 1 Tip: Vettel One Lap Wonder
10 out of 19 pole positions last year make him a 10/11 shot. Whenever he is odds against to sit on pole it is a value bet.
At the start of an F1 season it is hard to judge where the cars are in terms of pace. Pre-season testing can often be an exercise with smoke and mirrors as you never know how much fuel each car is carrying. On the positive side the bookmakers have no idea what is going on either so it is the best time to capitalise on their mistakes.
Last year Sebastian Vettel was imperious during qualifying, sitting on pole in 10/19 races. If we convert those stats into odds he is a 10/11 shot to grab pole position. One thing we can be fairly confident from testing is that the Ferrari and Red Bull are the cars to catch.
There is nothing to suggest that last year’s order is going to vary much. If that plays out in the early races then any time Vettel is odds against to get pole, back him. Coral go 6/4 he gets pole in Australia so happily avail of those odds.
