Formula 1 Latest Odds: Melbourne Round Up

Vettel Odds On

It was a great weekend for Sebastian Vettel following his pole position with a race win. He is now odds on to retain his title.

The Formula One season got underway in Melbourne this weekend and it was more of the same from Sebastian Vettel. The reigning World Champion was in imperious form as he led from start to finish. The German is now 10/11 to retain his title having been 9/4 at the start of the weekend.

It was a positive weekend for McLaren, who showed a much improved pace. Despite damaging the front section of the floor to his car, Lewis Hamilton finished a comfortable second. He is now a 4/1 shot to win the Drivers’ Championship having been 8/1.

Ferrari and Mercedes were the big losers over the weekend. Fernando Alonso (6/1 for the title) could only manage fourth having never been competitive for all three days. It was even worse for Mercedes with neither of their cars making it to the finish.

The surprise of the weekend was a podium for Vitaly Petrov, still an outsider for the Championship at 100/1; he nevertheless produced the drive of the day. It was a great fillip for Renault who are missing their number one driver Robert Kubica. The Russian’s third place was also great news for our formula one tipster, who flagged him up as the ‘best of the rest’ this season at 10/1; a market he is already well on the way to winning.

It is early days in the Constructors’ Championship, with Red Bull enjoying a nine point lead over McLaren. The Milton Keynes based team are 8/15 to retain their title, with McLaren 15/4.
