Man Utd v Newcastle Tips: Double Chance

With Rooney suspended and Van Persie sidelined, United look vulnerable.

You don’t need to be a genius to workout Man Utd are struggling, just a quick glance at the table will tell you that - so how on earth are they 1/2 to beat Newcastle in the early kick-off on Saturday?

A sidelined Robin Van Persie has been a huge blow but his return from a groin injury doesn’t look imminent. United average 2.2 points in games the Dutch striker has started, without him they average a meagre 0.4 points.

In his absence the goal scoring burden has fallen upon Wayne Rooney, but the England striker will be suspended for Saturday’s game against Newcastle after collecting his fifth booking of the season.

This leaves David Moyes without two players who have contributed 15 of his side’s 22 league goals this season.

For the first time in decades the aura around Old Trafford has slipped and teams genuinely believe they can take points away from the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

United have dropped points at home on four occasions already this season and they face a Newcastle team who are capable of big performances on their day. Before their defeat at Swansea they had won four games on the bounce, including victories over Chelsea and Tottenham.

Newcastle face a United team on the slide and they look a good bet at 9/5 (Coral) in the double chance market, where just avoiding defeat will win us the bet.
