Everton v Man City Tip

The champions have kept 10 clean sheets in 12 outings. The Toffees are in a slump.

It’s hard to imagine that Everton won’t be on a massive ‘downer’ after their abject capitulation to Wigan in the FA Cup quarter-finals last weekend. The Toffees surrendered 3-0 on their own patch to throw away a golden opportunity to reach Wembley and perhaps end the long wait for a trophy.

To make matters worse, the hopeful bid to reach the Champions League places has all but ended for David Moyes as well after a poor run of results. A home draw with Villa was followed by defeat at Man Utd and, more alarmingly, Norwich. A Goodison Park victory over Reading is scant consolation. Even arch-rivals Liverpool have crept ahead in the table now.

On Saturday, Manchester City are the visitors to Merseyside and it’s hard to see the champions failing to make it five victories on the spin in all competitions. Mancini’s boys haven’t even conceded a goal in that sequence. In fact, the Citizens have kept a superb 10 clean sheets in their last 12 outings across all competitions.

With that statistic ringing in my ears, I’m happy to take the best odds of 3/1 (Coral) on the visitors winning to nil in front of the TV cameras.
