The 19-year-old has enjoyed a dream few weeks having scored his first goal for England U-21s on 13 August before finding the net for Everton a few days later with an absolute screamer against Norwich. He won man-of-the-match for that display and has since been called up to the senior England squad by Hodgson.
The stats suggest Barkley is going to keep finding the net this season. He has had nine shots in two league outings so far in 2013-14; that’s the fourth most in the Premier League and only one behind Van Persie and Dzeko. Newly promoted opponents could be vulnerable to his considerable talents.
