Arsenal Suffer Summer Blues
Arsenal’s record in August is distinctly average whilst Watford were leading for most the game against Chelsea.
Arsenal have been slow out of the traps this season but it shouldn’t come as a surprise as Arsene Wenger’s sides often look undercooked in the opening weeks of a new campaign. Over the past five season’s Arsenal’s record in August is P16 W6 D6 L4, hardly the form of title challengers.
On Saturday they travel to Vicarage Road to face a Watford side that were leading Chelsea for 80minutes last weekend. The Hornets dumped Arsenal out of the FA Cup last season and will surely fancy their chances against a team they know they can beat.
A mid-week defeat to Gillingham isn’t ideal preparation but Walter Mazzarri fielded a largely second string XI and will be expecting a reaction on Saturday.
With home field advantage the 9/2 on a Watford win is on the large side.
