Watford v Sunderland Preview
A win for Watford all but ensures their safety and Sunderland have been dreadful for a long time.
Win against Sunderland on Saturday and Watford should stay up. That is a lot of pressure on one game but it’s not an impossible task. Sunderland mathematically have a chance of staying up but realistically they look doomed.
Sunderland managed to shock an abject Palace at the start of February but that was the only high point having lost six of their last seven away games all by at least a two-goal margin.
In terms of expected goal difference, I have them 19th in my model (Burnley last – good luck next season!) and they are well adrift of the 17th best side.
Watford have been inconsistent all season but they should be good enough to win when it matters. The 17/20 is more than fair against such a poor Sunderland side.
