Yarmouth Tips: Bubbly Ballerina

A good draw at Chester turned into a bit of a nightmare. A bit better luck and she should win.

Anyone placing a bet at Yarmouth today should exercise caution. Although the going description is officially ‘good to firm,’ a going stick reading of 7.0 equates to good ground with a touch of good to soft in places.

With that information in mind, I’m siding with Bubbly Ballerina in the 4.30 Yarmouth, a horse who has run well on all types of surface.

Last time out at Chester she finished second from a favourable low draw, but watching a replay of the race tells a different story. She was forced to race three wide around the first bend. When her jockey recognised her predicament, she put on the breaks and switched the horse to the rail, forfeiting a couple of lengths in the process.

Unfortunately, this was the wrong time to tuck the horse away as the race started to evolve coming into the home straight. Bubbly Ballerina suddenly found herself trapped on the inside and forced to switch very wide to make her run for home. All this manoeuvring must have cost the horse at least 2 lengths, yet she only lost by a quarter of that amount.

With a bit better luck in-running she can gain compensation at 11/4 (Coral).
