Yarmouth Tips: Pendo

Pendo’s turf season only started on the 1 August and at this time of the year he is fresher than many of his rivals in the 3.40 Yarmouth.

In three starts for John Best he’s finished 422 and I was taken by his performance last time at Lingfield. After getting involved in a pace duel, he set a ferocious gallop resulting in a finishing speed 97.7% of his average race speed. This set up the race for Multitask to close from the rear but Pendo battled hard and was only beaten a neck.

His first 6f split was the fifth fastest at the track from the last 758 runners at a mile. If Kieren Fox can save some of his mount’s energy for the finish, we should see an even better performance and it won’t take much improvement to win in this grade.
