Yarmouth Tip: Iver Bridge Lad

Won both times he has tackled this grade. Add two placed efforts in listed races and he has the best form in the book.

The betting really surprises me in the 4.40 at Yarmouth. Gramercy is the short price favourite, very poor value for a fragile horse. At the end of last season he was tailed off in two races, suggesting health problems. Since then he has raced twice in a year, both runs were respectable but not enough to warrant odds of 7/4.

Next up in the betting is Royal Rock. Unfortunately, he has also suffered from injuries and is a shadow of the horse he was in 2009. The drying ground is not in his favour and 10/3 for a horse that is winless in two years is poor value.

Apart from carrying top weight, I can see no plausible reason why Iver Bridge Lad isn’t favourite. He has raced in two class three conditions events this season, winning both times. He has also finished second in two listed events over today’s distance. Good to firm ground shouldn’t inconvenience him and he rates as the best bet.
