Wolverhampton Tips: Skystream

A strong traveller but her concentration can waver. Application of cheek-pieces enhances her claims.

Cheltenham might be over but that doesn’t mean the end for viable betting opportunities. A 9/1 winner pays the same at Wolverhampton as it does at the Festival.

The 6.50 Wolverhampton is full of horses that struggle to win, leaving only three realistic contenders: Prigsnov Dancer, Almaty Express and Skystream. The first two top the betting and their prominent style of racing is compromised by wide draws – my preference is for the last of the trio.

Skystream might be a maiden but she’s only had eight starts and shaped with promise on the last two. She finished third in a fair maiden behind Gold Tobougg and Court Applause, horses that are rated in the mid-60s. Racing off a mark of 52, Skystream looks well handicapped on that performance.

On her last start, she travelled well before tiring in the last furlong, understandable after returning from a 10-week break. She gives the impression of being a bit of a madam, jockeys have struggled to keep her in a straight line, so it is no surprise she runs in cheek-pieces for the first time.

A good draw, coupled with headgear could bring the necessary improvement to win a weak race.
