Wolverhampton Tips: Royal Intruder
A once useful horse having his first run for shrewd connections. A return to form is likely.
When I saw this horse had been claimed he went straight into my note book as one to follow. Racing in the 7.30 at Wolverhampton I cannot let Royal Intruder go unbacked at 17/2 with Boylesports.
Royal Intruder has been a useful performer in the past, picking up numerous class four handicaps. He’s not been at his best in 2011 but last week at Kempton I saw signs of encouragement. He was one of the few horses to make an impact from off the pace as he finished second to the useful Aye Aye Digby. What caught my eye even more was who claimed him.
He now resides with Richard Guest and races in the colours of Rakebackmypoker.com. Following sprint racing, these are colours I have become familiar with especially in the low grade events. The trainer has been the main beneficiary with 56 winners this season, his best ever and 17 of them were provided by these owners.
Connections have made a habit of picking up horses in claimers and getting quick wins out of them. Martin Harley takes the ride and he is the jockey of choice. He has a 27% strike rate for the owners showing a level stakes profit of 39.98.
