Wolverhampton Tips: Pearl Noir
Front-runner who has not been getting home over 6f after setting some strong early fractionals. Drop in trip should make the difference.
Pearl Noir has looked like a horse running over the wrong trip of late and dropped down to 5f, he can win the 2.00 Wolverhampton.
Two starts back he was beaten only 3.5 lengths in a higher grade at Lingfield despite going off too fast. His finishing speed was below 97% of his average race speed, indicating he tired in the final 2f.
It was a similar story, although not quite so drastic, at Wolverhampton three weeks ago. He again set a strong gallop that he couldn’t sustain.
Pearl Noir’s last two victories have come at 5f, including in today’s grade, over course and distance.
On paper the 4-year-old might have some competition for the lead but I doubt anyone can match his early pace. He is a good bet to make all at 6/1 (Betfair Sportsbook).
