Wolverhampton Tips: Onceaponatime
Formerly useful all-weather sprinter who’s had his problems but seems to be working his way back into form.
After spending 18 months on the sidelines Onceaponatime is starting to regain some form, enough to make him of interest in the 8.05 Wolverhampton.
Once good enough to win a handicap off 80, Michael Squance’s 8-year-old clearly had problems and has tumbled to a mark of 50. Undoubtedly well handicapped on his best form, there have been glimmers recently that suggest some ability remains.
Seven furlongs stretched his stamina last time out, but before that he was going well when hampered over 6f. It’s not guaranteed he would have won, but he would have gone close.
If he builds on that performance, he could be overpriced at 9/1 (William Hill), because at his best he is easily good enough to win a race of this calibre.
