Wolverhampton Tips: Mother Jones

David Evans is a trainer to watch out for in these claiming races and he saddles a previous course and distance winner.

The 3.15 Wolverhampton is a good little claimer, and despite the small field, you can only rule out the two long shots.

Arganil is the top rated horse but he is a risky proposition at short odds. He seems better over further nowadays and he is problematic at the stalls. If he makes another slow start, his chances could be over within the first 100 yards.

Lesley’s Choice looks the most likely winner but at the current odds, Mother Jones is the value at 6/1 (Ladbrokes).

David Evans is a master at using sellers and claimers to get victories out of his horses; his normal 10% strike rate improves to 19% in claimers. Mother Jones proved capable of winning a class 5 handicap over course and distance at the start of April. That level of form is good enough to win today’s race.
